Five dental operatories and an examination station were set up in a day in small school in the community El Rosario. 18 Volunteers formed an effective team to children from five nearby communities. This was a remarkable feat considering that most of the team had never worked together before. Next year’s project looks promising. “Guatemala 2010” was a success on many levels. We achieved all our objectives including the care of over 300 children with urgent dental needs; a preventative program involving the application of fluoride varnish and sealants; and a trial clinic in one of the poorest regions of Guatemala, Jutiapa.
